Maybe next spring we could organise a medicine walk perhaps at High Park. There is a stand of ancient White Oak in that park it is one of the last few Oak Savannahs in this area. It would be wonderful to walk around those ancients. I have become quite developed in plant identification and the medicinal and nutrient compsition. For instance plantain is good for bug bites and the seeds are where "psysillium" fibre comes from. Very nutritious too!

Earlier on in the summer, I went to a retreat at the Northern Lights Centre about 2 hours north of Toronto. This beautiful land is home to Heather and George. Together they planted 20 000 trees on the property, which are now 20 yrs old, Basically they planted a forest. George built the retreat lodge by hand (and he was not a builder when he started)! On Wed, I went on a medicine walk put on by Tony Barr's Sacred Sevens Meet Up group. http://www.meetup.com/Sacred-Sevens-Sharing-Circle/ It was super awesome! The walk leader, Sara took us on a walk through the woods and taught us about lots of natural plants and medicines that you can find / eat / use in the forest - and also about some that were poisionous, and some that were remedies. Like for example there was a plant that is the remedy for Poison Ivy, and it was actually growing close by to it! It was a really great night, lots of wonderful people there, and I realize that there is so much to learn about nature, that even though we may appreciate it's beauty, there is so much more that we dont always think about!
