What can you do to make your wedding more eco-friendly?

One thing that I've come across in my search to have a "green" wedding is plantable stationary. Botanical Paperworks offers a variety of products made from recycled, biodegradeable materials, containing actual seeds. This makes for great favors because guests can take their wedding invitation, favor, etc. home, plant them and watch them grow!

Here are some things to try....

- Pick a unique spot that is local and supports a cause you believe in...organic farm, non profit space, botanical gardens (I'm booking the RBG!) You could have your cermoney and reception at the same place too so that there is less travel involved!

- Send out tree-free invitations (hemp paper, organic cotton, e-mail, etc.)

- For decoration, you could use beeswax candles instead of parrafin, organic flowers (or opt not to use flowers, and have branches, grasses, etc....SO PRETTY!), stones or leaves for place cards. I've also heard of people donating their decorative flowers to a hospital or rest home after the wedding.

- Use a local organic restaurant to cater, consider vegetarian meals or cruelty-free meats.

- There is always so much food leftover, so why not arrange to donate the leftovers to your local food bank or homeless shelter

There is really SO much that we can do to make our special days more environmentally friendly - and it really doesn't have to cost any extra! HAPPY PLANNING!!
